Sturgis Vision
By 2012 Sturgis will have re-captured
the entrepreneurial spirit of the past and fueled the economic
and community pride for the future. The name "Sturgis"
spurs conversation and envy. The cycle of development
is alive and well. Existing businesses are thriving, as the
new antique mall and excellent restaurants are a draw for tourists
and residents alike to the charming downtown area. Local
entrepreneurs and firms from across the state and region are
competing for the opportunity to start new businesses and create
more jobs in Sturgis.
A sense of community has been
solidified with the establishment of the Sturgis Community Foundation,
which will be instrumental in resource development and coordinating
civic and cultural events and multi-generational activities
with the retirement village.
Working with Mississippi State
University, businesses, county officials, and volunteers, Sturgis
has risen to be Number One in the state in educational opportunity
and lifelong learning. The Sturgis Attendance Center serves
as the cultural center for the community and a satellite campus
for MSU.
Sturgis has maintained its local
charm and rich history, taking advantage of a larger tax base
to provide more amenities at the newly established RV park and
to support fire and safety programs.
